Editorial Perspective

Why the BMW M4 exists

The BMW M4 is the high-performance coupé from BMW M, imported to India as a completely built-up (CBU) car. BMW India lists two versions. The M4 Competition Coupé with M xDrive uses the 3.0-litre S58 twin-turbo inline-six, rated at 390 kW (530 hp) and 650 Nm, and starts at ₹1,62,90,000 ex-showroom. The limited-production M4 CS raises output to 405 kW (550 hp) and starts at ₹1,89,00,000 ex-showroom. Both send power through an eight-speed M Steptronic gearbox to M xDrive all-wheel drive. BMW quotes 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds for the Competition and 3.4 seconds for the CS.
